The Holidays Can Wait—Your Peace Can’t
This season, choose boundaries, self-care, and a little peace of mind.
Hello, lovely people!
The holidays are here, and while they bring moments of joy, they also come with stress, family dynamics, and a whole lot of expectations. This is the time of year when self-care and empowerment matter most.
In this week’s podcast episode, we talk with Sarah Patel, mother and founder of Kelia Drinks, who reclaimed herself through conscious choices and self-discovery. It’s a reminder that we have the power to choose what works for us, even when the world—or family—doesn’t always understand.
This episode is all about breaking stigmas, reclaiming control, and finding balance and peace through small, conscious shifts. In the sections that follow, we’ll explore navigating difficult family conversations, setting healthy boundaries, and inclusive hosting tips to make your holiday season a little brighter.

The holidays can bring delicious indulgences, but they often lead to digestive discomfort. That’s where Pique’s Nandaka comes in! With just 82mg of slow-release caffeine, it’s perfect hot or cold.

Reclaiming Your Story & Setting Boundaries
Sharing your truth is not always easy. I recently shared a childhood memory that revealed signs of ADHD and autism that weren’t understood back then. The response I received? Denial, doubt, and questioning of my experience.
For a moment, it broke me. But I realized that their discomfort is not my burden to carry. My experience is valid. Your experience is valid.
We often feel the need to mask who we are to make others comfortable, especially during the holidays. But this year, let’s give ourselves the gift of boundaries and self-respect. You can honor your truth and protect your peace, even if it means stepping back from relationships that refuse to see you.
If you need a reminder of why your story matters, I wrote a deeper reflection on reclaiming my truth and setting boundaries. You can read it here:
Navigating Holiday Conversations Around Cannabis
The holidays often mean family gatherings—and for many of us, that comes with difficult conversations about our choices. If you’re someone who’s chosen cannabis over alcohol, you might find yourself explaining or defending that choice.
I wrote an article for GreenState that offers practical advice on how to talk to your family about cannabis use. It covers tips on:
Dispelling misconceptions with facts.
Being honest but firm about your choices.
Knowing when to set boundaries to protect your peace.
Remember, you don’t owe anyone an explanation, but if you choose to share, you have the right to do it on your terms.
Inclusive Holiday Hosting Tips
Holiday hosting can be stressful, but one of the best ways to make everyone feel welcome is to offer inclusive beverage options. My friend Victoria Watters, founder of Dry Atlas, recently shared some fantastic tips in a Food Network article.
Victoria suggests offering beautifully packaged non-alcoholic aperitifs or premium alcohol-free sparkling wines. It’s a simple way to make sure all your guests—whether they’re sober, Cali Sober, or just curious—feel included and celebrated.
This season, consider adding a few thoughtful, alcohol-free options to your holiday table. And if you want more ideas, Dry Atlas is an incredible resource for finding the best alcohol-free beverages.
Wishing you a holiday season filled with authenticity, empowerment, and peace. If any of this resonated with you, I’d love to hear from you. Hit reply and let me know how you’re choosing to take care of yourself this season. With love - Monica
